Evaluation & Reflection

 15/03/2024

I started this week learning about different types of documentaries - looking at what makes a documentary a documentary and showing different genres of a documentary like science, nature, rockumentary, biographic and autobiographic. Next, I made a mind map for our theme 'Reflection' and the different ways I can portray the Reflection and put it all into a mind map. This was tricky because we had to think of other ways to show this. Then, I looked at different leaflets and chose a leaflet to analyse. I had to look at the text type, the target audience, the leaflets telling us, and many more.

This week we started creating our Petch Kucha presentations. We also practised colour for emphasis in photos and used Adobe Photoshop to make certain things stand out in a photo. I think this practice went well as I used colours

So far, I have started making my website using WIX.com for my final major project and researched different types of photographers that use reflection in some kind of way.

This week I was working on my website and editing some photos I took for the website. The editing for the images is going as planned so far. However, it is difficult to do some effects in Photoshop. Moreover, the website is going well. I have found a good template to set up my portfolios and customise them to my liking. Next week, I plan to start on my leaflet and complete my website.

I have started the week off by editing more photos for my website. However, I would have preferred to get more work done than I did which slowed down the process of getting this project done. This delays my work and makes me anxious for next week's deadline. I will stop contemplating and discipline myself to do my work to improve my productivity. Next week, I will hopefully finish my leaflet and my website and then focus on the theory part of my work after the practical has been done.

Final Production Poster:

For my final major project, one of the things I created was a poster to advertise my website.

Thankfully, I did meet my project deadline, which gave me the perfect opportunity to focus and complete it with high quality. Initially, I was concerned about gathering enough photos and generating creative ideas for my website. However, I successfully arranged photo sessions with models, which provided an abundance of fantastic images. This not only gave me a variety of photos to choose from but also significantly enhanced my project's overall quality and creativity.

The poster is perfect for my target audience as it puts it out there that it's for new and upcoming photographers. The typography is also eye-catching and vibrant which attracts young adults, creative minds and adventurous people. My poster makes it appealing to my target audience as it shows excellent photography on the cover and this will make them think that they will be prepared for what amazing new photography skills they will learn to be an up-and-coming photographer in this industry. The title 'Reflection Exhibition' portrays to the viewers that the photography will be based on reflection.

I specifically chose to create this type of poster. After all, I wanted to target creative photographers because I would like them to portray reflection in different ways. The neon colours on the typography would attract more of an abstract person who is into more creative photography rather than leaving the poster to be minimalistic which will attract boring photographers.

This poster turned out to be well as the text is very clear to read, and the image doesn't have too many things in the background which will attract the viewer's attention to something else rather than the whole point of the poster. The positioning of the model in the poster is very clear and the model isn't posed abruptly so the audience won't get distracted by it. The poster isn't cluttered with text which makes it easier for the audience to read the important parts of the poster.

I used Photoshop to create this poster. To make the typography glow, I double-clicked on the layer where the text was on which brought me up to adjustments then I added an outer glow to make the text pop. I used a sans serif typography to make the title not seem too boring. I added an adjustment preset to the image to make it go for that retro look.

What worked really well with my poster is that the colour and font of the text corresponded really well with the theme I was going for which was a retro theme.

Another product I decided to create for my final major project is a website for new photographers to explore reflection photography. Thankfully, I did meet my project deadline, which gave me the perfect opportunity to focus and complete it with high quality. In the end, I was able to edit all my photos the way I wanted to whereas, in the beginning, I was stuck on whether to try other editing techniques for my photos but I'm glad I got to where I am now.

I made my website appealing to my audience because I gave them what they wanted as shown on the poster - exploring reflection photography. I made sure my website was clear for my audience and wouldn't be difficult to manage through it. I also made sure the text was clear and vibrant but also matched the birth theme of my poster.

My website was useful in giving out information because not only did it show images of photographers' work it also showed how they made the image and what effects they used to make it. The positioning of the photos was large and bold so the audience would be caught onto the special effects the photographer has used.

To create the website I used wix.com and use the templates they have and made my own template by adding my own images and text. I also adjusted the colour scheme to match the theme I am going for and made it simpler but extravagant.

What went well with this website is that I incorporated lots of images for my audience to view and examples on how you make them.
